Interview

Pascal Cuisinier, Following in the Footsteps of the First Designers

Gallery owner Pascal Cuisinier is the author of a book devoted to French designers of the 1950s. Trained as an architect and a philosopher of art, he speaks to us about his enduring passion for the furniture and lighting created by this generation, which he believes remains insufficiently known and undervalued today.

**Brigitte Durieux: The Historian of Industrial Design**

Author of several books on industrial furniture, translated into multiple languages, Brigitte Durieux has played a key role in the growing interest surrounding these simple, robust metal creations, most of which were originally designed for the workplace.

A portrait of a woman driven by a passion for collecting and for the stories behind objects and lives.

Jean-Lou Majerus and the Lights of Modernariato

From the Brussels flea market to the creation of LUMI PRESS, Jean-Lou Majerus has made lighting design both his passion and his mission.

A collector, researcher and publisher, he devotes his books to major Italian manufacturers such as Oluce and Stilnovo, restoring these icons of modern lighting to their rightful place in the history of design.

Gli Scacchi: Playful Design by Mario Bellini

Beatrice Brengues, who runs the Modernariato shop in Paris’s 18th arrondissement, talks to us about Gli Scacchi (“the chess pieces”) and its creator, Mario Bellini. This unusual early-1970s design, inspired by the strategic game, was also conceived as a symbol of freedom and innovation.
