Italian 'Satellite' chandelier designed by Goffredo Reggiani, 1960s
Italian 'Satellite' chandelier designed by Goffredo Reggiani in the 1960s.
This Space Age chandelier has 6 spherical lampshades with E14 fitting that circle around a central sphere. It is completely made of chrome-plated metal and the shades have a white lacquered inside.
The chandelier is in very nice vintage condition with some very light age-related signs of wear. There is not a dent or crack anywhere to be seen. This Sputnik lighting works best with the use of 6 mirror headlights (see photo)
The fascination with space and astronautics was enormous at the time of the space race (late 1950s to mid-1970s). This translated into the design movement ' Space Age ' which influenced architecture, films & music, fashion, interior design, etc.
This large and rare chandelier is a beautiful example of Space Age design and will undoubtedly be a beautiful eye-catcher in your interior!
